Pilates for pain management

When your body has been through something.

Medically-informed movement for chronic pain, post-surgical recovery, and complex conditions. Led by a Registered Nurse with over 20 years of clinical experience.

The approach

Pain is not a reason to stop moving. It is a reason to move with someone who understands it.

Clinical oversight

Movement as medicine, with a nurse’s eye.

Jennifer reads your imaging, understands your surgical history, and knows the difference between pain that is part of healing and pain that is a signal to stop. She does not guess. She reads the record, watches you move, and builds from there.

01

Where balance, stability, or strength is missing.

02

How you breathe, which can reveal pain, tension, or structural misalignment.

03

How you move through all five planes of motion, including your gait, alignment, and brain-body connection.

A different approach to recovery

The fast fix rarely lasts.

When we’re in pain, we want the quickest way out. Too often that means momentary relief, a surgical recommendation, or feeling worse than when you started.

As a Registered Nurse, Jennifer learned early that lasting change comes from the root of pain, not just the place it’s felt. Recovery means strengthening everything that supports the affected area, so your body has a foundation to build on. Using our Pilates for Pain Management process, we’ve helped hundreds of clients reduce, manage, and often find lasting relief from pain.

No one should have to live with chronic pain, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Conditions we work with

Complex histories, welcome here.

Jennifer takes the clients who arrive with a folder of imaging and no answers. If you’ve been told your situation is too complicated, or four other providers have looked at you without resolution, that is exactly the kind of case she works with.

  • Post-surgical recovery: spine, hip, knee, shoulder

  • Degenerative disc disease

  • Scoliosis

  • Long-standing pain with no clear diagnosis

  • Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue

  • Post-mastectomy and cancer recovery

  • Chronic back pain

  • Arthritis and joint pain

  • Osteoporosis and bone density concerns

  • Neurological conditions affecting movement

  • Pelvic floor dysfunction

  • Life after PT, when you want to keep building strength

Common questions

Questions about the work.

Is this physical therapy?

No. Body Temple is not a physical therapy clinic and Jennifer does not practice as a physical therapist. She is a Registered Nurse and a Pilates teacher. The work is movement-based, not medical treatment. If you are in active PT, we can often work alongside it. If you have completed PT and want to continue building strength, this is frequently what comes next.

Do I need a referral or physician clearance?

Not to contact us. Jennifer will ask about your medical history during your phone consultation and will let you know if she needs documentation before your first session. For clients with recent surgeries or specific restrictions, she may request a note from your surgeon or physician.

I’ve had multiple surgeries. Is that too complicated?

No. Clients with complex surgical histories are exactly who this work is designed for. Jennifer reads surgical notes and imaging reports. She is comfortable with the people other studios turn away.

I’ve been in pain for years. Why would this be different?

We can’t promise it will be. What we can tell you is that Jennifer’s assessment starts from what your body is actually doing today, not from a protocol designed for a general population. If you’ve been through multiple providers and still don’t have answers, the intake process here is different from what you’ve experienced elsewhere.

Do you take insurance?

No. Sessions are private pay. We do not bill insurance and are not in-network with any provider. HSA/FSA cards are accepted, and we can provide documentation for reimbursement if your plan covers it.

Important: Body Temple Pilates is not a medical provider and does not diagnose, prescribe, or provide medical treatment. Pilates instruction is not a substitute for care from a licensed physician, physical therapist, or other medical professional. Jennifer does not override surgical clearance or physician restrictions. Always consult your healthcare provider before beginning a new exercise program.

What this is not

We are not physical therapy. We are frequently what comes next.

We are not a substitute for your physician or surgeon, and we never override surgical clearance. We are the place where the strength you rebuilt in PT becomes something you keep.

In their words

“Within four months I was out of pain and my quality of life kept improving. Jen could look at me and describe where I might be hurting before I could tell her.”

Client, severe back pain

“I saw how weak my core was and how it affected my legs and back. My back pain has gone down, my knee pain is almost all gone and my heel pain is gone.”
