Jennifer Mapalad - Master Trainer
Jennifer graduated in 2001 from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in Nursing. The fitness world has always been an interest of hers for many years. About 7 years ago she began her journey with pilates as a student. Shortly after she began, she was diagnosed with a chronic illness. She went from being a healthy young woman to being exhausted just walking down the hall. This was a very depressing time for her. After a few months she began to attempt pilates again and in just a few weeks she began to feel more vibrant. She felt that pilates gave her quality of life back. A little over five years ago she felt that she wanted to help others that may have set backs, so she decided to pursue teaching pilates.
Jennifer is certified from BASI pilates and The Physical Mind Institute. She has studied with master trainers such as Mari Winsor, Julian Littleford, Rael Isocowitz, and Karen Clippenger. She attends numerous workshops and conferences in the pilates field which includes working with first-generation pilates instructors Ron Fletcher, Kathy Grant, and Lolita San Miguel. Jennifer's background in medicine allows her to take the principals of pilates and apply them to clients with specific ailments such as post surgery rehabilitation (knees, back, shoulders, and hips) and specific conditions such as Parkinson's disease and fibromyalgia. She also works with professional athletes to help apply the six principals of pilates which incluede centering, concentration, control, precision, breath, and flow to help them perform. Jennifer loves working with clients of all shapes, sizes, strengths, and flexibility.
Courtney Kees - Trainer
Courtney graduated from Columbia College Hollywood School of Film in 2003. Her background consists of Film, Acting and Writing. As a college student a mentor suggested she explore the world of pilates and yoga to increase her range of body movement as an actress.
In 2005 she was taking abundance of Pilates classes and began to put some thought into becoming an Instructor. She did not believe she was flexible or disciplined enough to be able to do so, but in 2007 she was finally ready to make a career change. Courtney studied with the Core Dynamics program to become educated in Mat Pilates and on the Pilates Equipment.
She fell in love with teaching and decided she wanted to incorporate her 80’Äôs roots by branching into dance also. Having been a child of the 80’Äôs Courtney already believed she was a professional, and not only became Zumba Certified in 2009, but also developed her own dance class, Goddess Dancing.
Courtney's philosophy is that working out should be fun, peaceful, and uplifting to the soul. She believes very strongly that what you have done with your life is not as important as how you lived it.
